Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Friday slammed the Mideast Quartet's call for a complete freeze of Israeli settlement construction, local news service Ynet reported.
"The Quartet's statement ignores the experiences of the past 16 years and does not take into account that peace must be constructed from the ground up, with practical actions on the ground," Lieberman was quoted as saying.

A lone rocket fired from Gaza Strip crashed into the Jewish settlement of Shaer Hanigev in Western Negev on Friday, a spokesman of the Israeli Army said.
The spokesman, whose remarks were posted on the website of the Israeli media network, Yedioth A'ranoth, said the missile fired from the northern sector of the strip hit an uninhabited spot in the settlement.
No losses were reported.

Israeli warplanes bombed Gaza Strip in the early hours of Friday, injuring at least two Palestinians.
Palestinian security officials and eyewitnesses said that Israeli aircraft fired at several targets across the Gaza Strip injuring two people.
Israeli warplanes struck a workshop in Gaza City, three tunnels under the Gaza-Egypt border and two open fields, witnesses and security officials said.

Tensions are running high in the Old City of Jerusalem (al-Quds) Israel's decision to expand its settlements and reopen a synagogue in the occupied West Bank.

A poll shows an overwhelming majority of Israelis think President Barack Obama is fair and friendly toward Israel, despite a grave diplomatic feud with the U.S. over east Jerusalem construction.
Israelis are sending mixed signals about their own leader, however.
The poll shows 36 percent of those questioned think Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is best suited to lead Israel, versus 26 percent for his closest challenger, opposition leader Tzipi Livni.

The Israeli air force responded to a rocket fired by Gaza militants at Israel that killed a Thai worker, by striking six targets in southern Gaza early Friday.
The military identified the targets as three weapons-smuggling tunnels; two other tunnels militants were digging to infiltrate into Israel; and a weapons workshop.

Nearly half the respondents (48 percent) said Israel must keep building in the capital, even at the expense of a rift with the United States, while 41 percent said Israel must accept the American demand (and Palestinian ultimatum) to stop building in Jerusalem until the end of the negotiations (which haven't begun yet)...
Though the public remained composed in the face of the diplomatic fracas, poll respondents are not thrilled with the prime minister's conduct in the affair.

I write to say that America has only one real ally in the Middle East and Israel has never asked anyone to fight for them.
They can handle their wars.
However, the Israelis need the political support more than ever now as the Arab propaganda is trying to make a mockery of Israel's needs to build and secure sights in their country.
